The first coin of the new "Vikings" series, which will consist of 5 issues.

The first copy is dedicated to Eric Bloodaxe. Actually, his name was Eric Haraldsson, and his nickname is Eric Bloodaxe. He was the second king of Norway and the oldest son of the first king, Harald Beautiful.

In the year 920, as the heir to the throne, he organized and led a Viking expedition to Bjarmaland in what is now northern Russia. In 930 his father, Harald the Beautiful Hair, abdicated in his favour. Shortly after taking power, Eric fell into serious conflict with his brothers and killed them, where his nickname came from.

Eric's atrocities led the mighty Norwegian people to bring the illegitimate son of Harald I the Beautiful-Haired, Haakon I the Good, from England in 934. The people of Haakon's outrageous people cast Erik off the throne.

Erik then tried to regain the throne and was in charge of many campaigns against his brother. Eventually he and his closest family were expelled from Norway and settled in the Orkneys in the north of Scotland and later in York. There he was warmly welcomed by King Athelstan of England, who even crowned him king of Nortombria in 947. Athelstan supplied Eric with the army, weapons and fortress that he thought would help him to defend himself against the constant invasions of the Scots and the Irish. Eric the Bloody Axe was king of Nortombria for 9 years.

This silver coin was struck by the Mint of Poland. It is characterized by a high relief and selective gilding. The coin's reverse shows Erik preparing to attack. The obverse is uniform in the whole series, it shows the runic script.

Each coin is packed in a beautiful wooden case together with a certificate of authenticity.
