After "Samurai" it was time for the second coin from the "Warriors" series.
Another great warrior is the Holkan, the so-called Mayan warriors from the Yucatán Peninsula.
They were extremely ruthless warriors whose motto was "Death to my middle name". They formed a separate Mayan caste. They waged constant wars against hostile tribes, while protecting their city. They also had to recruit prisoners of war to be offered as sacrifices during the bloody rituals performed by priests. The Mayans learned not to feel fear - in their religion, being a sacrifice dedicated to the gods was treated as an honorable death, so being caught by the enemy simply meant meeting the gods more quickly.
The reverse of the coin depicts one of the Dutchmen going into battle. In the background you can see the priests and the Mayan pyramid. Selected elements were gilded and the whole coin was oxidized, which gave it an antique finish.
The whole is packed in a decorative frame, which is a showcase for the coin.
