100$ Jan Paweł II Maximus, Shape of Poland

On the obverse of the heaviest coin featuring the Polish Pope, there is a view of Wawel (with the mint mark in the background), below which is a view of the Vatican from the Tiber side. The whole is surrounded by an elaborate floral motif - the flowers are Clematis "John Paul II" bred by Brother Stefan Franczak, a world-renowned gardener. In the upper left corner, there is the head of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscription "Elizabeth II", at the bottom "100 dollars", "2014", and "Niue Island".

Inside the medallion is the profile of Pope John Paul II, leaning on a ferula (papal pastoral staff), next to the Pope's coat of arms, and on the edge of the medallion, in addition to elaborate decoration, the inscription "Sanctus Ioannes Paulus II". Above is the papal motto "Totus Tuus", which means "Wholly Yours" – words of prayer addressed to the Virgin Mary. In the background of the coin, there is the Jasna Góra Monastery with the Black Madonna on the left side and a stained glass window with John Paul II on the right - also from the Jasna Góra Basilica. At the bottom, the fineness is given as Ag 999.9. The halo of the Virgin Mary and Christ as well as the interior of the medallion are gilded (24 karats).

Minted in 2014 in a limited edition of only 99 copies. Only 55 are on the Polish market - richly finished with 27 diamonds.

The coin comes in a beautiful original, elegant large box along with a certificate. It is worth noting this issue because this coin has been submitted to the Guinness Book of Records in the category: Largest irregularly shaped silver coin in the world. The irregular shape is the contours of the map of Poland, on which the image of John Paul II is placed. The issuance is sponsored by the Museum of Coins and Medals of John Paul II in Częstochowa.

This unique coin, weighing over one hundred ounces (over 3 kilograms), has been made in an extremely difficult-to-achieve shape depicting the borders of Poland. Additionally, the coin features 27 diamonds symbolizing the 27 years of the pontificate of Pope John Paul II. Diamond was chosen from among many precious stones precisely because of its biblical significance as a symbol of unwavering will and courage – especially in suffering.
