10 PLN Henryk Flame "Bartek" - The Cursed Soldiers Persecuted by Communists
This silver coin with a denomination of 10 PLN commemorates Henryk Flame, pseudonym "Bartek" – one of the Cursed Soldiers, Polish heroes of the post-war resistance movement against the communist regime. This coin is a tribute to those who fought for Poland's freedom, resisting despite persecution.
Reverse: On the left side of the coin is a bust of Henryk Flame in elegant attire, symbolizing his resilience and determination. On the right side, the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta is depicted, symbolizing honor and merit in the fight for independence. At the top, there is an arc-shaped inscription "HENRYK FLAME BARTEK." At the bottom, a ribbon in the national colors of Poland is adorned with the emblem of the Fighting Poland and the slogan "They behaved as they should" along with the dates "1918–1947" commemorating Flame’s life.
Obverse: Centrally positioned is the eagle – the symbol of the Republic of Poland, with the inscription "RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA" above it. On both sides of the eagle, we see broken prison bars, symbolizing the pursuit of freedom and breaking away from the bonds of communist persecution. At the bottom of the coin is the denomination "10 PLN" and the year of issue – 2024.
