In 2024, the 230th anniversary of the Kościuszko Uprising is commemorated. On this occasion, the National Bank of Poland is issuing a collector's silver coin with a face value of 50 PLN.
The aims of the Kościuszko Uprising were "freedom, integrity, independence" of the Republic. The decision to initiate the uprising was made by the leaders of the Four-Year Sejm, who were in exile upon hearing about the Second Partition. Tadeusz Kościuszko, a hero of the American War of Independence and the war against Russia in 1792, was chosen as the leader of the uprising.
Obverse: A composition of weapons from the period of the Kościuszko Uprising, depicting crossed sabers and scythes. At the top, along the edge, from left to right, partially in a semicircle, the inscription: REPUBLIC OF POLAND 2024; below, on the right side, the image of the eagle established as the emblem of the Republic of Poland, below the eagle, on the right side, the mint mark: m/w; at the bottom, on the left side, the inscription: 50 PLN.
Reverse: The image of a fragment of the bas-relief by Alfred Daun from 1896, "Consecration of Swords," located on the wall of the Loreto Chapel near the Capuchin Monastery in Krakow, depicting the figures of generals Tadeusz Kościuszko and Józef Wodzicki, and the Capuchin, Father Tadeusz Krawczyński. At the bottom, on a separate plane, the inscription: 230th ANNIVERSARY OF THE KOŚCIUSZKO UPRISING.
