On October 3, 2023, the National Bank of Poland is launching a 50 zloty silver coin, 500th Anniversary of the Birth of Anna Jagiellonka.
Anna Jagiellonka, born October 18, 1523 in Cracow, died September 9, 1596 in Warsaw - daughter of Sigismund I the Old and Bona Sforza, from 1575 queen of Poland, in 1576 married Stefan Batory, who became king of Poland and exercised actual power; the last Polish monarch of the Jagiellonian dynasty, childless, after her husband's death (1586) led to the election of Sigismund III Vasa, her nephew, as king of Poland.
The coin's reverse features an image of a bust of Anna Jagiellon, which is a reproduction of a miniature in the collection of the Castle Museum in Pszczyna.
On the obverse of the coin is a stylized coat of arms of Anna Jagiellonka, depicting a shield with the emblems of Poland and Lithuania and the Sforza coat of arms in the middle, all topped with a royal crown. On the right side of the coat of arms is the image of an eagle established for the emblem of the Republic of Poland.
