On September 5, 2023, the National Bank of Poland is launching a 10PLN silver coin 30th Anniversary of the Withdrawal of Soviet Troops from Poland
Russian troops finally left the Polish territory, leaving the Legnica base on September 16. The Legnica base had been the command headquarters of Soviet troops stationed in Poland since World War II. The official farewell to the last Russian soldiers took place at the Belvedere on September 17, 1993, but the military had already left the most important base on Polish territory, the Legnica base, on September 16.
The reverse of the coin depicts the inscription: SOVIETS GO HOME! which is a reproduction of a slogan from a demonstration in 1989. Above the inscription there is the date: September 17, 1993, below the inscription there is an image of a hand in a gesture expressing an order. In the rim, from the left upwards, the inscription: 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WITHDRAWAL OF SOVIET TROOPS FROM POLAND.
