On 20 January 2022, the National Bank of Poland introduced coins dedicated to the Polish Olympic Team.
Between 4-20 February 2022, Beijing will host Olympic Winter Games.
Beijing was the host of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games (February 2022). The Chinese capital is the first ever city to host Olympians for both the Winter and Summer Games. However, Beijing itself will host competitions in the "ice" disciplines only, with the "snow" venue being two resorts roughly 160km from the capital.
The obverse of the silver coin depicts the Pavilion of Prayer for Birth, which is one of the buildings in the Temple of Heaven complex in Beijing, the image of an eagle established for the national emblem of the Republic of Poland and the inscription The Republic of Poland 2022. On the reverse side there is a silhouette of an athlete competing in short track.
