An interesting bullion coin! The reverse of the silver coin shows a portrait of the Nobel Prize winner. In her right hand she is holding an ampoule with a newly discovered substance. In the background behind her can be seen a molecular model of radium, one of her most famous discoveries. A copy of her handwritten signature is placed at the bottom.

Marie Sklodowska-Curie, worked in chemistry and theoretical physics. She devoted her special attention to the study of radioactivity. It was for her research on this phenomenon that she received the first Nobel Prize in 1903, along with her husband Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel. After the tragic death of her husband, Marie devoted herself entirely to science, which allowed her to receive the prize again in 1911, this time for her independent work treating the discovery of polonium and radium. Thus, she became one of the few people in the world honored with this prize twice.
