The Royal Tudor Beasts: The Greyhound of Richmond 2 oz Silver Coin 2025 Proof is the eighth release in the Royal Tudor Beasts series. The coin showcases the rich heraldry of the Tudor dynasty, drawing inspiration from emblems seen across the United Kingdom, as well as from the sculptures that adorn the entrance to Hampton Court Palace. Henry VIII used heraldic symbols as a powerful tool of visual communication, emphasizing his royal heritage and unquestionable right to the throne.

The hite Greyhound of Richmond symbolizes Henry VIII’s ancestral ties, including those to Edward III and the House of Lancaster. This animal became a symbol of royal lineage thanks to Henry VIII’s grandfather, Edmund Tudor, Earl of Richmond, who used the white greyhound as his heraldic supporter.

The complete series will consist of 10 coins, each depicting one of the Tudor Beasts: the Seymour Panther, the Lion of England, the Bull of Clarence, the Tudor Dragon, the Greyhound of Richmond, the Royal Dragon, the Yale of Beaufort, the Seymour Unicorn, the Queen’s Panther, and the Queen’s Lion.

This piece is struck from pure .999 fine silver, weighs 2 troy ounces, and has a diameter of 40 mm, with a proof finish. The mintage is limited to just 450 pieces. Moreover, this exceptional coin was produced by The Royal Mint and comes in individually certified packaging.

The obverse features the effigy of King Charles III, along with the denomination and year of issue, based on a design by Martin Jennings.

The reverse depicts one of the Tudor Beasts – the White Greyhound of Richmond – along with the inscription “The Greyhound of Richmond” and the year “2025.” The reverse was designed by David Lawrence.
