This coin showcases the rich heraldry of the Tudor dynasty, drawing on emblems seen throughout the United Kingdom, as well as the iconic sculptures that line the entrance to Hampton Court Palace. Henry VIII used heraldic symbols as a powerful form of visual communication, emphasizing his royal lineage and unquestionable right to the throne.
The complete series will feature ten coins depicting legendary beasts: The Lion of England, The Bull of Clarence, The Tudor Dragon, The Greyhound of Richmond, The Royal Dragon, The Yale of Beaufort, The Seymour Unicorn, The Queen’s Panther, The Queen’s Lion, and The Seymour Panther.
This coin is struck from pure silver of the highest fineness — Ag.9999, weighing 2 troy ounces with a diameter of 38.61 mm. The mintage of this edition is unlimited. It is proudly produced by The Royal Mint, renowned for its craftsmanship and heritage.
Obverse: Features the effigy of King Charles III, along with the coin's face value, designed by Martin Jennings.
Reverse: Depicts one of the Tudor Beasts — the White Greyhound of Richmond, along with the inscription “THE GREYHOUND OF RICHMOND”. The reverse was designed by David Lawrence.
