On October 12, 2023, the National Bank of Poland is launching a 10 zloty silver coin, 250th Anniversary of the Establishment of the National Education Commission.
On October 14, 1773, the Sejm established the Commission of National Education, consisting of four senators and four members of the Chamber of Deputies. This entirely new institution was given the task of rebuilding the educational system in the Republic.
The reverse of the coin depicts a composition of books decorated with a laurel branch and a quotation from the first universal of the Commission of National Education dated October 24, 1773. The obverse features an image of the seal of the Commission of National Education. The seal's field shows a circular five-field shield, with the Coat of Arms of the Crown and Lithuania on it, and a heart-shaped shield - Ciołek, the family coat of arms of King Stanislaw August.
