This time, the trail leads to the lands of today’s Republic of Poland — to the most important source of Baltic gold.
The warrior depicted on the coin, holding a spear, keeps watch over an older amber gatherer. At their feet stands a wicker basket filled with the gold of the North. Natural amber conceals a replica of a denarius of Emperor Antoninus Pius.
In the background, wooden buildings and a watchtower evoke the ancient settlements, while a stylized map recalls the historical geography of these lands: Mare Suebicum — the Baltic Sea, the Vistula — the main artery of the route — and Calisia, one of its most important trading centers.
- A Polish highlight of the journey through the nine lands of the Amber Road
