5 Marks Loss Vengeful - Bödvar Saga

The exceptional, colorized edition of the coin from the Bödvar Saga series by Germania Mint brings the story of the legendary warrior to an entirely new level of intensity. The “Loss Vengeful” version captures the dramatic moment that set Bödvar on his relentless path toward revenge and justice.

The obverse depicts a deeply moving scene of destruction — Bödvar, bound in chains, helplessly watches the death of his wife Astrid in the flames of a devastated village. Thanks to the carefully applied coloration, the fire, emotions, and tension gain remarkable depth, enhancing the drama of the moment. It is at this point that the hero learns of his daughter Sunneva’s abduction and swears to find her.

The reverse features the sacred Mount Thorbjørn in the form of a roaring bear — a symbol of strength, power, and divine energy. On its forehead appears the Sowilo rune, while waterfalls flow from its jaws, feeding the rivers below. The rim is adorned with a runic circle, and the entire composition is entwined with Bödvar’s chains, symbolically binding his fate to destiny.
