Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things premiered in July 2016 and quickly became one of the most popular series in Netflix’s history. Rooted in 1980s nostalgia, the show has reignited interest in the pop culture of that decade with each new season — bringing back items like Eggo waffles and New Coke. Most recently, the series breathed new life into Kate Bush’s track “Running Up That Hill”, which — 38 years after its original release — soared in popularity on Spotify and entered the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time. The show has earned over 70 awards worldwide, including Emmys and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, and has been nominated for over 230 awards. Fans around the world celebrate November 6 — the day Will Byers went missing — as “Stranger Things Day”, a time to share their love for the show’s universe.

The coloured reverse of the coin features Vecna levitating, with eight tentacles extending from his body. The design includes two demogorgons lurking in the eerie Upside Down, accompanied by demobats and flashes of lightning cutting through the night sky. The design also features the Stranger Things logo and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

Each coin has been individually treated with an antique finish to give it the appearance of a timeworn artifact. As a result, every coin in the mintage may have slight variations, making each piece truly unique.

The coin is housed in a black wooden case with red accents. The lid is decorated with embossed detailing and features the official Netflix and Stranger Things logos. Packaged in a themed shipper, the release comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
