Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things premiered in July 2016 and quickly became one of the most popular series in Netflix’s history. Rooted in 1980s nostalgia, each new season has reignited global interest in the pop culture of that era — from Eggo waffles to New Coke. Most recently, the series breathed new life into Kate Bush’s song “Running Up That Hill”, which, 38 years after its release, soared in Spotify streams and entered the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10 for the first time. The show has won over 70 awards worldwide, including Emmys and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, and has received more than 230 nominations. Fans around the world celebrate November 6 — the day Will Byers disappeared — as Stranger Things Day, a special occasion to express their love for the series’ universe.

The coin’s coloured reverse depicts the mysterious world of Hawkins. The top half shows Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Eleven riding their bikes on an adventure, while the lower half reveals the eerie Upside Down, featuring Will and the ominous figure of the Demogorgon. Also included in the design is the inscription: “ON NOV 6, 1983 THE WORLD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN. FOREVER.”, along with the Stranger Things logo and The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark.

The coin is presented in a sleek black wooden display case with red accents. The lid is decorated with embossed details, including the official Netflix and Stranger Things logos. Packaged in themed outer packaging, the coin also comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
