The success of The Witcher Book Series
The Witcher began his conquest of the world with books. Andrzej Sapkowski wrote a story, which did not win first place in the competition, but was a great success. Based on the success of the story "The Last Wish", the author created a whole saga about the adventures of the Witcher. Then he created computer games that conquered the whole world, and since 2019 we can watch the adaptation of the saga in the serial version of "The Witcher" on Netflix. The second season attracted millions of people in front of the screens. One thing is certain - The Witcher will live on in pop culture for many, many years to come.
The Witcher series combines all the best in collectibles. The first coin of the series, within just two years of its release, achieved a 400% profit! Collectors were delighted not only with the unique theme, but also with the design of the coin, additions and accessories (thematic, engraved box). There are many fans of The Witcher all over the world, yet there are only 2000 coins in each issue. - The mintage is not sufficient to cover all demand, so this series is elite. Each subsequent issue is instantly acquired and on the secondary market it is quite successful.
This year we present the third issue of the coin, the Blood of the Elves. The coin sold out in two hours! Currently only single copies are available in sets.
The Blood of Elves coin is minted in 62.2 grams of fine silver. The reverse, 45 mm in diameter, depicts an important scene from Andrzej Sapkowski's book of the same title. It is an attack of Scoia'tael commando groupon a dwarven caravan, which Geralt and Ciri were travelling.
In the foreground you can see Geralt saving Ciri from an elfin blow. In the background is placed fighting Yarpen. The coin design is full of symbols - the elf is wearing a cap with a squirrel tail. This animal is the symbol of the Scoia'tael, as this name from the Elder Speech means just "squirrels".
Every detail of the reverse is perfectly visible thanks to the high relief, and the whole thing looks extremely vivid, just like the world presented in Sapkowski's book. Additions also attract the attention. On the reverse there is an addition in the form of selective pink gold, which imitates blood. Another interesting element of the decoration is the wheel, which was handmade from extremely hard wood. The inserts may differ from the one shown in the picture.
The obverse is decorated with ornaments and symbols related to Elirena. A squirrel in the Gothic medallion and bushes full of roses refer to her. In the middle of the coin there is also a plate with a bas-relief of Elirene.
On the left side of the obverse there is information about the denomination, silver sample and issuer.
The Witcher Book Series returns in a one-kilogram version of the Blood of Elves coin, made of the finest 999 silver, with an impressive diameter of 100 mm! The reverse shows the scene of Ciri's training in Kaer Morhen. She was training on a "pendulum" - this was an obstacle course on which all witches trained. Besides Geralt, Ciri was also trained by Vesemir, Cöen, Lambert and Eskel. The witchers taught Ciri how to fight, while the sorceress Triss Merigold made sure Ciri understood magic.
Every detail is perfectly visible thanks to the exceptionally high relief, which is as high as 3.6 mm. Both the obverse and the reverse of the coin are eye-catching thanks to their red agate, which imitates the window of the fortress on the reverse and the gate to Kaer Morhen on the obverse.
On the obverse, looking from the top, we see the name of the stronghold, which is the headquarters of the Witcher school of the Wolf guild. Below the inscription is the entrance gate to the stronghold. The mountains in Kaedwen are placed in the background.
The mintage of the kilogram coin is limited - only 200 pieces! The elegant box reflects the uniqueness of the coin. The wooden box has been varnished to a high gloss, and the engraving on the front is covered in red, referring to the color of the agate.
