The first coin from the new series of bullion coins, "Myths and Legends".
It was struck from 1 ounce of pure gold. This is an excellent item for investors and numismatic collectors. Investment in gold is called a "safe haven investment", therefore this coin is suitable for those who want to secure their capital for the future. It was minted by the Royal Mint of Great Britain, so it features excellent quality and precision.
The first coin of the series depicts Robin Hood. He was a hero of medieval English folk legends, whose actual existence has not been confirmed by historical sources. According to legends he and his companions lived in Sherwood Forest and fought against the despotic Sheriff of Nottingham. He was known for stealing from the rich and giving away valuables to the poor. In most legends about Robin Hood he is pardoned by King Richard the Lionheart who returns to his homeland after a long absence.
The reverse of the coin shows an image of Robin Hood shooting a bow, which was an integral part of his costume. He is standing high in a tree, because, according to legend, he lived in a forest. The edges of the coin show its name, weight, year of issue and the metal finish. The obverse features an image of Queen Elizabeth II and the value of the coin.
