Dolnośląski Związek Piłki Nożnej (DZPN) is one of the sixteen provincial football associations included in the Polish Football Association. The seat of the union is in Wrocław.
DZPN deals with the organization of games from the 4th league to B class in the senior games and all youth games in Lower Silesia. By associating nearly 700 clubs, it is one of the largest associations in the voivodeship. DolZPN has three subdivisions: Jelenia Góra, Legnica and Wałbrzych. Undoubtedly, the greatest successes of the Lower Silesian ZPN are the two-time victory of UEFA REGIONS CUP. The team of Lower Silesia is the only two-time winner of this tournament, next to Italians, representing the Veneto region.
The first triumph took place in 2007. The Poles then won in the final with the hosts, the Bulgarians of the so-called Southeast Region (Burgas Province), 2: 1 after extra time.
The next championship came 12 years later. The tournament in Bavaria was won by the team from Lower Silesia in the final, defeating the hosts 3-2.
The team of Lower Silesia is the only two-time winner of this tournament, next to Italians representing the Veneto region.
The history of the relationship dates back to 1946, when the Wrocław Football District was established, which was then dependent on the Kraków Regional Football Association. The union gained autonomy 8 months later, under the name of the Dolnoslaski Football Association, under which it operated until 1976, when as a result of a new administrative division of the Polish People's Republic into 49 provinces, it was transformed into the Wrocław Regional Football Association. As a result of another administrative reform and the reduction of the number of voivodeships, 16 voivodship associations were established in 1999. The first president of the Lower Silesian Football Association was Jerzy Koziński, who held the position until 2009. His place was taken by Andrzej Padewski, who still holds this position.
