We are in a different dimension… in Kulturotka Falenica on the fantastic event for the 40th anniversary of the 'Nowa Fantastyka'. Among the attractions you can find here discussion panels with invited guests, movie shows, autograph sessions, exhibition of the best cover of magazine, workshops, RPG sessions, cosplayers. The entrance to the event is free!

MEMORY TIME

Do you know that the first issue of the monthly magazine "Fantastyka" was during marital law in October 1982? In July 1990 new publisher of the magazine was Mieczysław Prószyński and the name has been changed for the 'Nowa Fantastyka'. Forty years since its launch, 'NF" is still the only one printed magazine about fantasy in Poland and one of the oldest in Europe and in the world. In 2007 the magazine was honored by the Minister of Culture with the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis.

From the very beginning of existence, the magazine published the most outstanding representatives of the fantasy genre (began publication in the Georg R.R. Martin's and Strugatsky brothers' novels. In the magazine were stories from famous writers and debutants from the country and from around the world, feletons and essays, interviews, galleries, comics, articles and reviews, and literary competitions were organized. The covers of magazine decorated graphics by excellent artists, among others Wojciech Siudmiak, Zdzisław Beksiński, Tomasz Sętowski, Roch Urbaniak, Chris Achilleos, Frank Frazetta, Luis Royo and Donato Giancoli. For many years, "Nowa Fantastykay" has marked trends on the Polish fantasy market. In the early years of its existence, it was also an effective tool to avoid communist censorship.
 
     
Among the writers whose stories appeard in the magazine can be included: Ursula K. Le Guin, George R.R. Martin, Stephen King, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. In December 1986 'The Witcher' written by Andrzej Sapkowski appeared for the first time. One of the most popular Polish comic book characters was born here too, Funky Koval created by Bogusław Polch, Maciej Parowski and Jacek Rodek.
