20$ Cave Lion - Megafauna

Megafauna is a new collectible series by Germania Mint, dedicated to the ancient giants that once ruled the Earth. The issues in this collection pay tribute to the power of nature, the majesty of a lost world, and the prehistoric predators that dominated during the Ice Age.

The first coin in the series is the Cave Lion — a powerful predator that roamed the ice-covered steppes of Europe and Asia thousands of years ago. This colorized version of the coin was released in a strictly limited mintage of 999 pieces and is packaged in a minimalist paper box, emphasizing the modern and collectible character of the issue.

The obverse of the coin depicts the cave lion in a dynamic, realistic pose. Thanks to precise colorization, the predator’s silhouette gains depth and a natural appearance — clearly defined fur, a muscular build, and a focused gaze reflect its dominant role in the ancient ecosystem.
