The design of the coin is illustrative and may differ from the final result.

“The Offering” was painted in the 1900s by the famous Lithuanian symbolist Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, a pivotal figure in early 20th-century European modernist art. Being a hallmark of a symbolist painting, „The Offering“ has less to do with actual religious themes and more with interpretation of ideas or archetypes. It depicts an angel, which usually is a symbol of hope, faith, love, sacrifice, etc.

If you were to look closer, a symbolist approach and touch are seen all over this painting. The stairs could lead you up or down while the angel is standing in the middle of the scene. At the bottom we have smoke or incense of different colors rising into the sky. There is also a giant ring floating at the top, looking almost like a kind of entrance, while the stars are concealed underneath. All of this visual richness keeps you wondering and thinking about a rather mysterious scene.

„The Offering“ put on a coin is a threefold treat. Not only is it an aesthetic piece that is heavy with symbolism, it is a numismatic object as well. A charming addition to any collection.
