The sixth issue in the “Numismatic Icons” series is adorned with a beautiful lion, symbolizing the animal of the god Apollo. Apollo was not only the god of the arts, healing, and light, but also the patron of colonies. The majestic lion represents strength, protection, and divine guidance.

The coin tells the story of Leontini's importance as an agricultural center and its close connection to Apollo. The lion, as the god’s symbol, emphasizes the divine patronage over the colony, while the grain of barley points to the region’s prosperity and fertility. The letters CI refer to the tradition of ancient Greek coinage used to indicate the place of origin. In line with tradition, the issue includes three exceptional editions in silver and gold.
