The Queen's Beasts - series of coins

This series was produced by the British Royal Mint. It was created on the occasion of the sapphire jubilee (65th anniversary) of Elizabeth II on the British throne. The series was inspired by royal heraldry and tradition - the coins depict mythical creatures whose task was to protect the royal family. Each coin of the series was designed by Jody Clark. They are issued in gold (1 oz, 1/4 oz) and silver (2 oz, 10 oz) and platinum

The title beasts were originally the badges of the various families of the British monarchy. For example, Henry VIII had the badge of the Lion of England and the Red Dragon of Wales. On the occasion of the king's marriage to Jane Seymour, statues depicting the Lion and the Dragon were struck. The statues are now located near the moat of Hapton Court Palace. These sculptures many years later became the inspiration for James Woodford, the artist who created the sculptures of the royal beasts for the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953. Each beast is a statue about 1.8 metres high symbolising the dynastic historical legacy of one of the families or places associated with the Windsor dynasty. These sculptures have gained enormous fame. Interestingly, there are replicas of them in the UK, while the original is available in...Canada. These statues were the inspiration for the creation of a series of bullion coins. On the obverse of each coin there is, of course, the image of Queen Elizabeth II.

Series "Burning Queen's Beasts"

The Queen's Beasts are not only a graceful subject for bullion coins, but also a fantastic collector's product. Our installment of the series, the Queen's Flaming Beasts, has delighted collectors. The 2 oz silver coins have been plated, which is an exclusive method of refining coins. The obverse and reverse were covered with black ruthenium, a rare transition metal that became the perfect backdrop for all the beasts. The beasts have been decorated with 24-carat gold, making them shine even more spectacularly and affix their majesty.

Thanks to the combination of ruthenium and gold the coin gains in value and looks truly unique. The dark ruthenium brings out the brilliance, while the gold exposes the richness of the applied techniques. In this way a unique, contrasting effect was obtained, which harmonizes extremely well with each other, and the craftsmanship makes the coin a unique mint masterpiece. The coin is enclosed in a wooden box with a certificate of authenticity, which makes it a perfect gift and an interesting object for every collector and investor. The mintage is limited to 200 pieces only.

All these elements made the series extremely popular. The interest was much higher than the mintage. On secondary markets, the coins achieved surprising increases in value. Collectors who have collected the entire series now have a valuable collection of coins at home.

The Queen's Burning Beasts series is now complete, but we encourage you to start your investment adventure with new series whose profit potentials can match the Burning Beasts. These series are "Burning Myths and Legends" and "Slavic Beasts".
