Burning Horse of Hanover

We present a new coin from the "Burning Beasts of the Queen" series. This time on the reverse there is an image of the Burning Horse of Hanover.

Buring Queen's Beasts series

On the occasion of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain in 1953, ten majestic beasts were placed at the entrance to Westminster Abbey, which still guard the gates to the famous Anglican temple. Each of the beasts is a statue about 1.8 meters high, symbolizing the historical legacy of the dynasty of one of the families or places associated with the Windsor dynasty.

The coin has been clad, which is the most exclusive method of coin refinement. The obverse and reverse was covered with black ruthenium, a rare transition metal that became a perfect backdrop for the Horse. The Horse itself has been decorated with 24-carat gold, thanks to which it shimmers even more spectacularly and flaunts its majesty.

Thanks to the combination of ruthenium and gold, the coin gains in value and looks truly unique. Dark ruthenian brings out the splendor, and gold exposes the richness of the techniques used. This resulted in a unique, contrasting effect which harmonizes with each other. The intricate work makes the coin an exceptional masterpiece of mint art. The mintage is limited to only 200 pieces.
