Coin from the popular "Amber Route" series, minted by the Mint of Poland. It consists of 8 coins, dedicated to the cities through which the amber trade route has passed: Kaliningrad (Russia), Gdansk (Poland), Elblag (Poland), Wroclaw (Poland), Stare Hradisko (Czech Republic), Szombathely (Hungary), Carnuntum (Austria) and Aquileia (Italy).

The first coins, Kaliningrad and Gdańsk, were struck in 2008.

The coin features an interesting theme, an extremely low mintage, a captivating detail and an amber design that attracts attention.

Kaliningrad - a city in Russia at the mouth of the Pregol River into the Baltic Sea, the capital of the Kaliningrad region - an exclave of Russia, bordering Poland and Lithuania. The city was founded in 1255 by the Teutonic Knights in honour of the Czech king Přemysl Ottokar II, who headed the Teutonic Knights' army during their next expedition against Prussia. Today, the magic of the city makes it very popular among tourists, mainly from Germany. Most often they visit the city fortifications: Wrangel and Der Dohna towers with the Amber Museum.
