Another coin from the "World's Greatest Artists" series, which is dedicated to artists who have changed art and the canon of beauty forever.
This coin was struck from 2 ounces of fine silver and is dedicated to Gustav Klimt. It is decorated with a wonderful reproduction of his most famous painting "Medicine (Hygieia)".
Gustav Klimt was born in 1862 in Baumgarten, died in 1918 in Vienna. Austrian painter and graphic artist, representative of symbolism and secession. He studied at the Viennese School of Crafts, initially specialising in decorative arts. In 1897, together with other artists, he founded the Association of Austrian Artists - Art Nouveau. It was then that he finally rejected academic canons in favour of the avant-garde. His painting is distinguished by its rich ornamentation and bold use of colour, especially gold. Women were the dominant motif of his work, but he is also known for his landscapes.
