A long-time fan of numismatics from Pomerania, Mr Marek Wenta has published his own book!

Marek Wenta's book fits perfectly into the tradition of maritime literature. We have here descriptions of a rough sea, adventures in exotic countries, hard work of seafarers day and night, and a description of the state of consciousness of an average member of the crew and the one who stands out above the sailing average. However, this is not the most important thing in the book Wenty. From the first sentence, we are dealing here, on the one hand, with a documentary, describing in an extremely precise manner the historical time in which the main character and at the same time the narrator lives, and on the other hand, with a conscious and deliberate message full of humour and distance. "Against the Snowmen" is in fact not only a sailor's story, but also a very interesting story of a man who, living at a particular time, does not forget that one should not "go crazy" and give in to what he thinks, often a silent majority.

Marek Wenta - captain of the great shipping, sea pilot, author of the book "In spite of roller".  He was born on 7 June 1949 in Sztum. He started working at sea on the ships of the Polish Ocean Lines, to move to the Polish Baltic Shipping in 1977. In 1982 he received the diploma of captain of small sailing, and in 1988 - captain of big sailing. In 1984-1988 he worked as a senior officer on sea ships with a German ship owner. From 1988 to 1998 he was captain on ro-ro ships and on passenger ferries: m/f Rogalin and m/f Nieborów. In 1990-1995 he worked on foreign contracts as a captain with a British shipowner. In 1998, he became a maritime pilot in Przedsiębiorstwo Usług Morskich Gdańsk-Pilot Sp. z o.o. and retired from there in 2016. In 1994-2003, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Polska Żegluga Bałtycka S.A. in Kołobrzeg. From January 1999 to December 2001 he was a juror at the Gdynia Maritime Chamber. At present, he is a juror of the appeal of the Maritime Chamber at the District Court in Gdańsk, seated in Gdynia. He also holds a diploma for supervisory board members in State Treasury companies.
